EVM-equivalent Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution Metis is announcing Quadratic Funding #1, a new initiative that marks a major step forward in decentralized funding. The funding, which maxes out at 3,000 METIS or $100,000, runs from August 29th- September 13th, 2024, 2024, on the Gitcoin Grants Stack.
The Metis Quadratic Round #1 represents a significant advancement in decentralized funding, aligning with Metis' vision of creating a scalable and decentralized network on Ethereum. By partnering with Gitcoin Grants Stack, Metis hopes to foster innovation and infrastructure growth within its community.
“I'm proud of the Metis' partnership with Gitcoin as it furthers our commitment to decentralization and our vision of a shared Web3 economy,” said Elena Sinelnikova, co-founder and Decentralization Coordinator of the Metis Foundation. “The program will open new pathways for creative builders and projects to expand the Metis ecosystem, and I'm excited for the innovations still to come.”
Sov, Head of Grants at Gitcoin stated: “We are honored to partner with Metis on their inaugural Quadratic Funding round. By combining our proven funding model with their vision, we're offering projects an alternative to traditional fundraising methods. This initiative empowers builders focused on meme coins, games, real-world assets, and on-chain society within the Metis ecosystem to activate their communities and be rewarded for their impact. Together, Metis and Gitcoin are setting the stage for new projects to emerge and we're excited to see how this collaboration will catalyze growth.”
During the curated round, Web3 startups have submitted their proposals for community review. From September 10th to 26th, the community is invited to explore these projects and make donations, utilizing the Quadratic Funding (QF) model. This model ensures that projects with broader community support receive a larger share of the matching funds, empowering a more equitable and impactful distribution of resources.
This round is a continuation of Metis’ commitment to supporting Web3 founders and startups, following the launch of the Metis Foundation Fund, which aims to deploy $100 million towards building a decentralized Web3 ecosystem.
