We are thrilled to announce that we have partnered with Thrive Protocol to launch a major initiative aimed at supporting builders and engaging our community of contributors. As part of this collaboration, we have committed $3.6 million annualized to reward developers, creators, and other contributors as we expand our efforts to grow our network.
This collaboration is important for Metis, as we have been working to create a strong foundation for decentralized applications (dApps) and builders on Ethereum. With a focus on offering fast transaction speeds, low fees, and aligned incentives through our Decentralized Sequencer, we aim to power the next generation of Web3 protocols.
The collaboration with Thrive Protocol is designed to accelerate our ecosystem’s growth, with Thrive leveraging its expertise in managing grants and incentives for Web3 communities. Thrive has previously worked with notable projects like Arbitrum, ApeCoin, and Sui, and will now support Metis in expanding our infrastructure and user base.
A key component of this partnership is the creation of "Thrive Metis," an initiative powered by Thrive Protocol to incentivize contributions to the Metis ecosystem. Thrive Protocol has developed a robust system that simplifies grant distribution and reward allocation, helping to streamline the growth of the Metis network.
Season 1 of Thrive Metis, which runs until December 2024, is now live. This season builds on Metis’ participation in the Gitcoin Quadratic Funding Round, providing additional opportunities for developers to secure grants and further their projects. Under this initiative, $100,000 Gitcoin Round has already been allocated to support Metis' vision of a scalable, decentralized Ethereum network, with more funds reserved for ongoing Gitcoin grants.
To demonstrate our strong commitment to supporting Web3 builders and community members, we established the Metis Foundation Fund in 2023 to deploy $100 million toward building a decentralized Web3 landscape. Thrive Metis will play a crucial role in distributing these funds, ensuring that meaningful contributions are rewarded and the ecosystem continues to grow.
The Thrive Metis program offers two main ways for participants to earn rewards: contributions and grants.
Grants are aimed at larger projects and require detailed proposals, including milestones, deliverables, and regular updates. The more successful a project becomes, the greater its rewards. So far in 2024, we have committed 250,000 tokens to fund these grants.
Contributions, on the other hand, are smaller tasks that can be completed by anyone. Simple actions like joining Metis’ communities on X (formerly Twitter) and Discord, creating content, or experimenting with DeFi protocols on the Metis network will earn participants tokens. This contribution system incentivizes active participation, encouraging both developers and community members to take part in the ecosystem's growth.
The reward system also includes a competitive element, with a leaderboard showcasing the top contributors. This feature aims to motivate users by allowing them to track their progress and vie for a share of the $3.6 million in rewards.
Our collaboration with Thrive Protocol is a dedicated effort to attract top talent and innovative projects to Metis. Incentivizing meaningful contributions through rewards for governance, funding, and project development strengthens a highly engaged and dynamic community.
